Tooth coloured composite fillings can restore cavities caused by not only decay, but also chipped, broken and worn teeth.
Fillings in anterior teeth (incisors and canines) are usually restored with composite, but it can also be placed on a private basis in posterior teeth as an alternative to amalgam. The colour can be harmonised to your normal tooth colour to appear natural. Composite restorations are generally less destructive to the teeth than amalgam fillings as less tooth needs to be cut away to place them. They are not appropriate in every scenario but your dentist can advise you on a case-by-case basis.
