Bridges

Dentists in Dundee

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by joining an artificial tooth to an adjacent tooth or teeth, or dental implant(s). They can be an alternative to a partial denture.

Fixed bridge

This is the most common type of dental bridge. It includes a crown or crowns on one or both sides of the gap where the tooth or teeth used to be.

Resin Bonded (Maryland) bridge

Often used to replace missing anterior teeth, this is the least destructive type of bridge. Instead of crowns, it uses a metal or porcelain framework with ‘wings’ that are bonded with a dental resin cement to the back of the teeth on one or either side of the gap.

Crowns and bridges are not feasible for every patient. It is important to have and maintain good oral hygiene and gum health in order to benefit from these restorations
